Hugo Chavez, long-term president of Venezuela, died last week after a long battle with cancer. A few days ago, CBC News reported that his body will be embalmed and preserved to be permanently on display at the Museum of the Revolution in Caracas. Which leads to the question: exactly how long, and how, can a body be preserved?
I came across this very amusing video regarding preservation of human bodies (warning: may not be suitable for all viewers). It goes through a very thorough discussion of what can be done with your body on your death, including whether you can have yourself taxidermied. If you’ve ever been curious about having your body preserved after your death, check it out.
